Quickguide for Epi-Care free 4G
Please note: A quickguide for Epi-Care free without the 4G function is available here.
1. Unpacking
The box contains the sensor, two chargers, the Epi-Care free 4G unit itself, and the Instructions for Use.
2. Preparing the SIM card
Epi-Care free 4G uses the mobile network to make calls when an alarm is triggered. You will need to obtain the SIM card yourself.
Insert the SIM card before switching on the unit. The PIN code must be removed beforehand so the device can start up without requesting one.
3. Switching on the unit and activating the sensor
Once the SIM card is in place, connect the power adapter to Epi-Care free 4G and plug it into a wall socket. The unit will switch on automatically.
The sensor is activated by placing it in its charger, after which it will automatically connect to Epi-Care free 4G.
4. Putting the sensor on the arm
Place the sensor on the arm you use the least. The strap should sit comfortably snug without being too tight. As a rule of thumb, you should be able to fit one finger between the strap and the arm.
5. Setting the master number and backup number
For the alarm to make a call, the unit needs to know whom to contact. You set this up by sending SMS commands to Epi-Care free 4G. The full list appears in the Instructions for Use, but the most commonly used are:
Alarm number:
San1 followed by the alarm number
Example: “San1 12345678”
Backup number:
Sab1 followed by the backup number
Example: “Sab1 12345678”
Naming:
Sat1 followed by the chosen name
Example: “Sat1 Peter”
When the unit has successfully registered the settings, you will receive an SMS confirmation.
6. Testing the alarm
Before using the system, it is important to test both the sensor and the call function.
Shake the sensor with small, rapid movements until the alarm is triggered. Epi-Care free 4G will then automatically call the alarm number, and the recipient will see the incoming call on their phone.
End the alarm by answering the call and hanging up again. The device will then return to normal mode and is ready for use.
